Samar and Markus married in Lisbon, ceremony first at a church in the city, portraits after at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Those grounds do something no studio backdrop can, raw concrete, sculpted arches, water mirrors, a stillness that turns two people standing together into something closer to architecture than a photograph.
Samar's bouquet ran deep burgundy and rust against a clean white dress, one of the few spots of colour in frames built almost entirely from concrete grey and white light. Markus in white shirt and dark trousers, no jacket, no performance. Between the columns and the reflecting pools, they moved like the space belonged to them.
Dinner and the party after landed at SUD, on the river, golden hour turning into string lights turning into a dance floor that didn't quit. Champagne on ice, a harpist somewhere in the stairwell, a guest in fuchsia tulle cutting through the crowd. Lisbon at its most theatrical, without ever tipping into staged.
